Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
28 Tomewin Street, Currumbin QLD
Dr Alex Griffiths opened a lorikeet feeding display on this 27-hectare block of subtropical rainforest in 1947. That single gesture became Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. The miniature steam train still runs; the rainbow lorikeets still land on outstretched arms. Three generations of Gold Coast families have the same photographs.
